Family History is amazing.....that is all 4/22/2019

Hola todos!

I hope you all had an amazing Easter! Mine was nice and calm, got to go out and meet some people, talk to old friends, the usual. What did y'all do? Any cool stories? Other than that though, this week was very mellow, pretty nice compared to the last few, haha. One really cool story to share, but otherwise, I'll speed through the general.

We had some fun times teaching a few of those families I talked about. In one of them, we shared an Easter message and a few videos and they really loved it, and the dad said his first prayer for us afterwards, and it was AMAZING! It was so awesome! He has never been willing, so it was super cool. We taught the blind guy (Pomales) yesterday, and he is still doing super well. We fixed his Walkman so he could listen to the Book of Mormon CD's we made. And William is still doing super well! He just got a new job, so it may be possible for him to start getting Sundays off, which means he may be able to get baptized super soon! We also started teaching this old couple from Puerto Rico, and they are super sweet, and really enjoy our company. The kicker this week was Suni (Soo-nee) though!

So, President Nelson, and our Mission President have put a big focus on using Family History (genealogical work through familysearch.org) in our daily contacts and teaching. We have no clue how to do this... so we have been trying to figure it out this week, and after being asked to give a training to other missionaries on how to do it, we tried really hard to figure out how it's done, but didn't feel like we had much to share. One day, after a good talk about what we could do, we prayed and felt inspired to go visit a person that was taught by missionaries a long time ago (few years). We went, and as we walked up the lady's neighbor saw us and gave us a very dirty look and kind of walked off. We knocked the door, and she wasn't home, so we figured we'd ask the neighbor if she knew her. We went over and caught her right before going in, we asked if she knew her, and she said she was out of town. So we asked her if we could share an Easter message, and she was like, "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmhhhh...fine, but I'm Catholic", and we just went about getting to know her and stuff, and she starts talking about her Grandpa from Trinidad, and how she feels like he has been helping her in her life, and I started talking about my great-great grandpa and a similar story I have with him, and she got SUPER interested! I showed her my Family Tree and she really wanted to learn more about that, and how she can do it, and why we do it; so we explained it all, and she opened right up! We talked about the Plan of Salvation, and set up a day to come back. We got a call the next morning from a man who said he was her boss and a member of the church, and he explained that she ran in and was super excited about what we talked about and just really stoked to meet with us again, and he invited her to church with him! She texts us after and says how excited she is to go, and asked for the address and thanked us again. She came on Sunday, and loved it, especially how all the songs "actually sound like they are directed to God and Christ!" It was awesome. She is super cool. Family History is the best.

I'm running low on time (seriously curious how many times I have said that in my letters...), but I just wanted to challenge y'all to take the next step in your Family History! If you don't know anything, start learning; if you know a bit, start looking for stories to cherish; if you have some stories, start looking for names to take to the temple; if you're taking names, start teaching others how to do the same. Whatever you are doing, do a little more. I never took any advantage of this amazing blessing back home, and I have really regretted it these last few weeks, but I'm improving! Family History is absolutely incredible. Please, use it. It has been such an incredible tool for so many people and their testimonies. Not only will those ancestors of yours be eternally grateful for your service, but you will be immensely blessed for helping Heavenly Father's children on the other side of the veil. I love you all! Thank you for your prayers and love you send daily! Enjoy your week! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!
