Hope everyone had a swell week! Mine was awesome! This new area is a blast! I'm sorry if this email is a little longer, ton of cool stuff happened and I just want y'all to understand how amazing it is out here! Minus the fact that's its a sauna with a swamp smell instead of the awesome wood smell 24/7, of course. I'm sorry my email didn't work out last week. I sent it, but it apparently got lost in transit or something. It didn't have a ton in it, just saying how stoked I was for conference. I'm not really up to thinking of anything to convince you to trudge through this, so Imma just start, kudos if you make it!
First off, progressing friends! We met with Carla a few times this week, she has been going through a ton of really bad and hard stuff, and we have come over unannounced a few times because she was being wierd about us coming over, but everytime she would apologize and thank us and we would help her out with whatever. She is a really awesome person, who has incredible faith, and really wants to change, it a been awesome to be with her to see what Christ is doing for her, and what she is willing to do for Him! Sybil was really sick this week, so we stopped by to giver her some homemade Twix Bars, and pray for her. She is still super awesome and sweet, and we are stoked to meet with her again when she gets feeling better. Susan has been through a ton too. She lives with her dad who has been going through some health problems and recently fell, so she has been with him 24/7 to care for him, and she just ended up falling a few days ago, so she is basically bedridden too now. We have gone over a few times to take her trash out, clean her floor, move stuff to make it easier to walk around, etc. We haven't had the chance to teach her a lot, but it has been really nice to just help her with everything she needs. Last we've got Humberto and his wife. Humbert has made awesome progress this week, and he even came to church! He has been searching for the right church for a long time. He was catholic, his wife is catholic, one son is Jehovahs Witness, one it methodist, his daughter is Baptist, and he was just Christian. He has heard and asked from all of his family about why their church is true, but he has really been liking what he has been learning from the BoM!
New friends! Made a lot of really neat new friends this week! Because if the way the area is, it's actually really fun to just ride our bikes through the neighborhoods and talk to everyone that's just chilling out in their garage, they are always a little wierded out, but loosen up pretty quickly, we have met a lot of really neat people, because past 6, basically 2/3 of people here just chill in their garages. Not like just normal garages, like everyone's garage is basically decked out like a living room, they all have huge sliding mosquito door things in the front, they keep all their bikes and stuff on their porch. Anyway, we met a few people with that who were pretty nice and interested. Denice, Roberto, and Luis were a few. Then we met Luis Chacon. He is the husband of a member, who asked us to come by and see if we could get him interested. We didn't really say anything, then he just explained that he doesn't believe in our church because of the First Vision and Joseph Smith, so we just asked him to read the Book of Mormon, and ask if it's true (missionary 101),and he agreed. We later found out from his wife that he has never been willing to do that, and usually never talks about why he doesn't believe in the Church, so that was neat! We met a guy that was taught by missionaries in Puerto Rico named Carlos, he's cool, haven't gotten to teach him much. Then we've got Jaima (pronounced ya-ee-ma), she is AWESOME. We were biking down a street, and this cop just pulled over (Elder Mcdonald restrained me from booking it into the nearby jungle) and said "hey, I remember yall knocking on my door, go to 643 Linnea drive, old Cuban lady, she needs Jesus!!!" So, we went to 643 Linnea drive, knocked the door, and were greeted by a man that was very not excited to see us! So we left, fast forward a few days, and we decided we'd give it a second shot, same guy answered, but he shouted into the house, and a nice lady came out. We said we were missionaries, and she asked if we wanted to come in! We explained the BoM, and she was stoked to read it!
You've made it past the hardest part! Congrats! Now I just wanna talk a bit about how awesome General Conference was. Sadly though, I have to leave here really soon, so I will leave you with a pretty short testimony of one of my favorite things I got from Conference, and that is the simple phrase every member knows, and every person should know: I am a child of God. The lame part about knowing such awesome things like that is that you start to became used to the saying, and it doesn't really mean anything to you anymore, but that simple phrase entails so much. Think about it, the Mastermind behind the universe, the Organizer of every little action performed on this Earth, the All-knowing, All-powerful, Most Powerful Being ever, is also your father. Your dad. His relationship with you is as true and pure as any paternal relationship, and more! Because not only is He your father, but He is your perfect father. He understands you perfectly, guides you perfectly, helps you perfectly, and loves you perfectly. We literally cannot comprehend the sheer amount of love that He has for each and every one of us. He has a perfect plan for us, because as our perfect father, He wants nothing more than to see us be truly happy! It's just incredible to me to try and comprehend how much He truly cares. Mortal words come nowhere close to explaining the feeling He has for you. You are his child. He loves YOU. YOU mean the world to Him. Isn't that insane?! Compared to Him, we are basically nothing, but to Him, we mean everything! So please, all of you, never forget that! YOU mean everything to the omnipotent, all-powerful, God of the universe! HE loves YOU!!! I mean, I do too! I love yall tons! But sadly, I've got nothing on His love, haha. Thanks for everything yall, have a great week, Love Yall!
